I’ve been an internet web designer and marketer for over 10 years. I decided to get involved on the Internet back in 1993 when not to many people had even heard about the Internet outside of people involved in the IT industry. At that time in the IT industry the Internet was called the “super information highway.”

I remember flying back to Philadelphia on a business trip from Seattle. On the flight I had a conversation with a lady who was a systems administrator for a competitor of the company I worked for at the time. The main topic of our discussion was the Internet. Being the geek that I am, I as very excited about the prospect of being able connect to information sources from all over the world from my office computer. I never liked sales because of the inherent nature of the business with its high rejection rates and having to deal with so many people with different attitudes and issues of life. So sales were a turn-off for me. I was a multi-media production specialist and loved doing that kind of work. During the in flight discussion I expressed my excitement about the entrepreneurial potential of an online business start up. About a year after this flight I started my Internet business. If you do a search on Google, Yahoo or MSN you will find thousands of them using the search terms associate programs or affiliate programs.

At that time I found a software company from Australia that offered one of these programs and I signed up with them. I remember getting my first sale. My first check for that sale was for $6.00. That may not have excited you but it got me excited because it let me know that I could make money online. I realized that if I could make $6.00 online I could make $6,000.00 online and even more. Within 6 months I got another check. This one was for $280.00. From there it just got better and better. I eventually quit my job and have been full time in this business ever since. So what does this all mean to you? As I said earlier I started out disadvantaged because there was no one to teach me anything about how to start and operate an online business.
